We're Not The Same

You Stand for tomorrow

I stand for today

You cry for pride

I cry for shame

You shout with pleasure

I shout with pain

We’re not the same

In any way

the color of our skin

The sound of our voice

Makes it to where

We are a pair

But that’s not fair

You stand for prerogative

I stand for manumission

You cry for disappearance

I cry for recognition

You shout with anger

I shout with hope

We’re not the same

In any way

the color of our skin

The sound of our voice

Makes it to where

We are a pair

But that's not fair

You stand for tomorrow

I stand for today.
