We Were Birds

Thu, 05/30/2013 - 20:38 -- oddity

I can hardly remember the shape of your face
Without trying to forget how brightly you smiled.
I wish your eyes weren’t so glorious in my dreams.
How they haunt me.
And all I can remember is the feeling.
The feeling that started in your heart and warmed my own.
How we shined.
I remember how it seemed our feet would lift off the ground and we would fly high above the world.
Can you remember the sound?
The sweet whisper in your ear.
And the bells.
The bells.
