A canvas requires

a combination of color to be completed.

History, however, dipped its brush

in discrimination,

painted America in prejudice,

called it a “masterpiece”

and moved on.

 

If it was our founding fathers’

intention to keep America

timeless,

then this masterpiece must be

Remolded to fit in our

modern era

 

Centuries ago, we painted our nation

in White,

so that the New World could have a

blank slate.

With each passing year

strokes of segregation

have since accumulated,

 

It’s time we revise the masterpiece

that we call “America.”

 

We, now, collectively acknowledge that

Our canvas needs pigment.

Equally distributed,

Balanced in both Black & White

 

(and Brown and Red and Yellow)

 

Until It’s a representative ratio of color.

because symmetry is not only

beautiful, but also serene.

(and aren’t those the goals

we have for our nation.)

 

We must illustrate how the variation

of color combined

is the only way to

exude virtuous beauty.

 

It’s time we repaint “America”.

It’s time we accurately represent (all of) America’s color.
