We Are The Change I

I see…why the sky turns blue

I see…why the grass stays green,

I look at you all, and see faces so peaceful and serene.

I see...leaders of our community

Enforcerers enforcing our sense of unity

I see…singers, dancers, and actors,

People who will play huge roles as community benefactors.

I look at you and see,

Another kid off of the block working diligently

To provide a cleaner park for our children to be.

I look at her and see,

A team player—a role model leading these kids in the right direction,

Teaching them to never stop until they’ve reached perfected perfection,

Acme.

I look back at me

And see

Consistent integrity

A true member of our community

I llok at him and take into acknowledgement

An independent and diligent

Young man.

I look at them

And watch in awe as they work as a team

But it seems that they function as a family.

If one falls,

He or she is assisted

Because here in this new world, respect has always existed.

I look at us

Taken by surprise

As I realize

The dedication that this motivation

Has given us.

I see the trust

That we have granted one another

Restoring the dreams that have been smothered.

As I stand here and look at you all

I know that our teams will catch, should we ever fall.

As you sit and listen to me speak

I see that you all have hearts

And they all leak.

Bleeding for our lost loved ones

For we have left it to ignorance to control our guns

As I stand here

I attempt to draw a picture that is crystal clear:

We’ve got work to do,

And yeah, I’m in this too.

As I look at each one of you

I see the respect and determination

And I see that the delgation between you and me

Has truly given us the power to be what the city needs,

While I look from face to face,

I realize that this is our place!

I realize that we have the drive to inspire

And we have the desire

To keep ourselves engaged.

I see that we sooth the pain of the enraged

And provide a stess reliever for those who are caged.

While I look at your dependable, respectful and accepting young faces

I see why people laugh and smile on a daily basis;

I see why a lot look forward to another work day

I see that we all have voices and have something to say

Seeing that although we have better things to do

#sleepingin

We are here for one reason and one reason only:

We are the beginning to the end of civil rights oppression

We are the end to  emotional depression

We are the start of a new day,

We are,

I just want to say

We are the change.
