The Warning Signs

You probably see walls,

Fences, blood shot eyes

And a face deprived of emotions

Hair warning to stay away

So you did as you were told;

Stayed behind the defence shield

So you wouldn't hurt yourself

With the thorns and nails

Hence you never bothered

To look beyond them

Or even try, so you wouldn't know

The person who craves long talks,

Or random smiles and happy promises,

Handwritten notes and odourless flowers

Or maybe you did and yet,

You had a hard time admitting

That you were no better than me

You probably see walls,
Fences, blood shot eyes
And a face deprived of emotions
Hair warning to stay away
So you did as you were told;
Stayed behind the defence shield
So you wouldn't hurt yourself
With the thorns and nails
Hence you never bothered
To look beyond them
Or even try, so you wouldn't know
The person who craves long talks,
Or random smiles and happy promises,
Handwritten notes and odourless flowers
Or maybe you did and yet
You had a hard time admitting
That you were no better than me
