Warmth of a Blanket

Smelling the roses growing beside the road

Knowing the joy might soon be gone

Cuddled in the blanket you sewed

Life used to be as carefree as a fawn

Smiling over the child drawn picture

Laughing about the funny joke

Life is now a messed up mixture

What used to feel soft now feels like a poke

The roses beside the road now reach out to grab me

The joy has completely disappeared

Your life inserted joy in all those around thee

Wondering when the happiness you instilled will reappear

Sitting in a chair wrapped in the warmth of the blanket

Happiness thrown over my shoulders like a warm jacket
