Warmth

A warm, metallic hug

Over a bandaged leg

I don’t remember ever being so

Warm.

It feels so much better

I have received the release

I need and now my blanket keeps me

Warm.

I want to go further, nastier, gorier

But it’s cold in the depths of my skin

And above all, I must stay

Warm.

The skin tightens, clots form,

Disgust, apathy, greed

All to keep myself

Warm.

Too far gone; mayday, mayday

A grey stone, cool to the touch

The earth is the only thing now keeping me

Warm.
