War

Location

War

Maybe love isn’t about finding someone whose scars match our own

Maybe it’s locating the person who puts those scars to their lips and says

If love is a battlefield,

You are the only one I trust to carry my heart through this warzone

I can’t stop thinking about the disaster in the Philippines

The anger the people must feel with Mother Nature

The terror of their loved ones being misplaced like single pearl earrings

One survivor word’s stated that it is “Worse than hell”

In the debris there is no clarity

We just keep on searching with fogged lenses and outstretched palms

The brail is sanded down and mistaken for goose bumps and cold shoulders

My heart is on my sleeve

And I will stand naked in front of you if it means you will feel more like

A human and less like a disaster

How is there so much hatred here?

How does one imagine a place worse than a world where people kill people

Because they do not understand their point of view

Where illness infects the brain until the answer is found within

The barrel of a shotgun

Or at the end of the blade

I do not know a lot for sure

You will catch me digging for my answers

Under the flesh around my nail beds

Until the crimson is wiped onto pant leg

Sucked onto taste bud

We all have our bad habits

Trust me,

I know that the darkness comes with earplugs and a guarantee that

This world would be better off if you got lost

In between the cracks of your trauma

But if you come to me like a broken levee

I will remind you that your flood is only temporary

And those lungs of yours can double as a flotation device

I am here to tell you

I am here too

With minimal answers and this shaking body

But I promise

Your sunlight is gorgeous
