South Africa

The birth was a miracle

The mother agrees it was the best day of her life

Her lined face was glad to become a grandmother at last

The birth was a painful event

The labor took hours and the lightning scars would last a lifetime

Her pained face was grateful for the end of the pain at last

The birth was the end of an era

No more would he be able to go out with his friends and take vacations where he pleased

His hidden face felt a loss of his short time of freedom

The birth was just that

Another day at work with another new mother and her overbearing mother

Her worn face was relieved her shift ended after this
