Veteran's Day

See the handsome young soldier
In his crisp uniform
See his parents' pride
And his boots barely worn

See his dreams of valor
Of money to pay for school
Off to see the world
And stories that sound cool

See him kill a child
His best friend dead in his arms
Sleep no longer finds him
His ears ring with constant alarms

How did this all happen
It's not what he meant
When he signed on the dotted line
To sell his body to the government

War games are such fun
The good guys always win
Killing brings such honor
Violence is not a sin

Don't you want to serve your country
By killing people far away?
You'll earn some pretty medals
They're not people anyway

Now you're home
The war is over
Sorry you can't sleep
Sorry you can't feel anything
Not even tears to weep

But, hey, let's have some fun
Get out and enjoy the day!
Here's a free coffee on the house.
Happy Veteran's Day!
