we should always thank thee
American veterans, who fought for what they believe
they put there lives on the line
for our country, the land of the free

we should thank as we see
not shake our heads in disbelief
congratulate them for staying alive
for there friends may have been sacrificed

we should tell them we love them
for they have kept us free
shake their hand in honor
for they never flee

it shouldn't be a bother
to thank other people's, sons and daughters
for they have made it look easy
keeping America's title, the land of the free
