The Vast Unknown

THE VAST UNKNOWN

When I hear people say that we are alone,

When I gaze out into the mysterious unknown,

And I dream that all things are not as they seem

Then all that I knew to be true escapes me.

The world is so vast, so utterly so

How can it be possible

That we are alone?

The moon and the stars are not just ours

We do not own perfection and yet,

We like to think we are above teh rest.

But humans are not perfect as I have found,

As people think because we abound.

But quality beats quantity

And here is where we fall short.

So I turn to the heavens and to the vast universe

There must be more than what’s on Earth.

And when I hear people say that we are alone,

When I gaze out into the mysterious unknown,

And I dream that all things are not as they seem

Then all that I knew to be true escapes me
