Valentine's Day

The day of love will never be

Our day of love.

You shot down our walls,

Broke our windows,

Murdered our friends.

Tears poured, blood stained,

Eyes closed, feet dashed.

We will never be comfortable again,

But we will never forget

And never again will this happen.

We tumbled and fell,

But we will rise above all.

We will show you

We’re not a pawn.

We hear the laughter and

We hear the cries, but

Never again will this happen,

Not at all.

Someday and everyday

Simultaneously

You will hear our pleading voices,

Begging you to save us from the bloodshed.

Do the politicians hear us?

It’s not a question, but a command.

We will never be quiet, no Sir,

We will be louder and rowdier

like 3,000 eagles.

We are using our voices

For those who can’t anymore.

Our children will be safe and

They’ll never be scared because

Never again will this happen --

Not to us.
