untitled

i can’t fathom where i would be

if you hadn’t painted the sky for me

if you hadn’t placed the stars

just so

that they would guide me

home

even though i might not know where that may be

you’ll be there every step with me

who else could be my greatest mentor

than you

the one who helped me feel

almost real again

you tell me the secrets

of your universe

as my breath quakes

and you wipe my face

and let my tears roll down

onto your fingers

you roll up your sleeve and give me a tour

of your broken heart

you tell me how

she dropped it on the ground

and watched it shatter

and you couldn’t help but cry

and count how many pieces your heart

now lay in

but you’re still fighting

to stay strong

you’re filled to the brim with strength

yet you’re soft and feel

and act

so genuinely human

and as you run your hands through

your golden hair

and let thoughts of

the one who broke you

run behind your ocean eyes

you point to the stars

pointing in the direction of where you’re gonna start

walking into the direction

of healing your

broken heart

and you’re gonna breathe

and you’re gonna grab my hand

and you’re gonna help me breathe

as both our hearts bleed

you look up to the stars

and sing to me
