Unnamed Reason

Poetry journeyed to me on trails of my mother's passion

A forgotten cause, scooped from the depths of memory like an ancient treasure found in the dark water of a bog

A gem, amidst everything that would hide it from the untrained eye

Expressed in leaves of grass, or a slave's demand for greater purpose

Or a simple description of one's surroundings

Or the attempt at expressing clentched feelings for a lossed loved one

Poetry is the cause

Reason? Perhaps there is none, for poetry is only my expression

A hard life, described in soft words

A tragic secret, vaguely hinted at for those who search

That is what poetry means to me
