Unmasked
I was kept silent,
With my inner voice screaming her opinions,
but the outside reaction without any interest.
I was kept behind a mask,
afraid to be free, of myself I had no dominion,
and what people saw was the "me" that was diminished.
I was kept and tucked away,
until Someone said, "you are one in a billion"
I stood up, took guard and put the old to extinguish.
The old has passed, the new has come,
and today I have truly become
the me that I was made to be.
