unexpecting

but it wasn’t the sky

you blamed it for

raining on your outdoor

wedding as if the

storm-clouds torpedo’d their

way to that cliffside even

when the morning sun laughed and

told you not to worry

and it wasn’t the priest

who swore to God he’d

make it to the cathedral on

time, cross his heart and hope to die

he didn’t.
