As he said

“you wouldn’t ask why the rose that grew from concrete

had damaged petals”.

But you wouldn’t ask the how the thorns came to be

you wouldn’t ask why they poke out from the side of the rose.

As some sort of security system

you who admire the rose for its tenacity.

Neglect the thorns ability to protect the precious rose.

Early morning and restless nights that the thorns have to endure

in order for you to enjoy the rose.

The thorns go through a society of hate and neglect

all for the rose don’t ask me how ask me why.

You roses

you precious roses

I am  your thorns.
