A Truthful Message to Teachers

Sat, 09/28/2013 - 13:55 -- tmfink

We’re corralled into the school like cattle,

For seven hours of study time on the clock.

Our education is only half of the battle,

When you have the audacity to mock.

We all have our own way of learning,

As a teacher you should understand.

But your one explanation is concerning,

If I’m clueless, please don’t reprimand.

My frustration comes in your math class,

Patience should be a teacher’s first thought.

But I’ve learned this isn’t always the case,

Please, I just need more time to be taught.

I hate when you favor my classmates,

When all of us should be treated the same.

To ignore me could possibly affect my fate.

Stop doing it because my life’s not a game.

Bullying is a real concern in schools,

So teachers need to be more alert.

Your favorite student can break the rules,

So you need to be careful what you blurt.

Schools shouldn’t be a popularity contest,

With teacher’s pets at every turn.

It’s you, the teacher, who pursues this quest,

While the rest of us scorn in return.

You seem to care more about coaching,

When your help is really what I need.

My college years are approaching,

And all I want to do is succeed.

I’m in your class for the education,

And I’m dedicated and ready to learn.

Your job is to provide me that information,

So make sure you do a good turn.
