The True Story of Frozen

Most of the time, when watching a Disney movie, people know the story the movie is based on. But when the movie Frozen came out, no one really knew what classic book that movie was based on. I know I didn't, and as a pure Disney hater, when people told me that it was an original story, I just had to prove them wrong. So here it is: The true story of Frozen.

It began with the danish book Snedronningen ("The Snow Queen" in English), which was a story about the Devil and his magic mirror that made everyone look like jerks, because it highlights the worst about themselves. So one day, Satan decides to go up to heaven and prank God, but when he is almost to the top, he drops the mirror, making several pieces shatter across the globe. After they shattered, they got into people's hearts and eyes, making them horrible people and also making them only see the worst in others. The only way to stop living this way was to stop living in general.

There are other parts in this story that sound very similar to the plot of Frozen, but that one part is what I want to focus on today. So at the very beginning of Frozen, we see that one of the main characters, Elsa, isn't quite a normal girl. She can shoot ice out of her hand for crying out loud! This is very important, because in one scene, we see that Elsa accidently shoots her sister in the eye. Whoops. Keep note of this one scene, because it will be very important later. So after they've all grown up, Elsa is going to be queen. But she's too scared. So she explodes into snow and ice, and causes all of the world to look like Hoth from Star Wars. Now, before this had happened, everyone was very kind and patient, but now everyone starts being rude and acting like they've got better places to be. So this seems like a pretty close reference to the part where everyone is being rude to everyone in the book. Then later on in the movie, the sister of Elsa starts getting white hair and a bit violent (for a Disney movie, anyway). Also, her sister Elsa is becoming her own queen of snow. You know, A SNOW QUEEN!!! The links to the book are very obvious by now.

Anywho, I thought I'd write this because the book really shows what it means to be patient and mind to others, and to not be rude to them. I think it's about time we all did that, you know?
