To the Top

Location

Summer kisses fall goodbye with sweaty lips and radiating eyes

Daylight turns from bright white into a calming gray

Leaves change colors and I feel the fiery change within myself

Leaves fall and I fully shed any evidence of being a girl

I embrace being an educated woman

The more knowledge I gain, the more I want to open minds

Every new word and every new fact penetrates my skull

If you were to open my crown, you would find statements written in cursive

Every fold in my brain would have something to say

You would be able to watch as more valleys and mountains are created

As I stand on the highest peak, I want to throw down ropes

I want to help others escape the flat plains

Because together, we could make the world into a mountain range
