Together We Can

A couple walked along a beach together holding hands

Just two people side by side; just a woman and a man

 

 

One said to the other, "There are many grains of sand"

"Would be impossible to count them all, but dear, together we can."

 

 

"For nothing is impossible when there is you and I

Together we can climb the mountain top and tap the sky."

 

 

So they began to count the shore; took days and months and years

Their love began to fall apart through fights and endless tears

 

 

The man sat on the shore and cried, "The task is far too rough"

The woman turned and sweetly spoke; "Just trying is enough."

 

 

"Maybe we can't count the grains of sand upon the shore

Or reach the moon and stars, but honey, trying's worth much more."

 

 

"Together we may not achieve the task that we began

But we'll sit together here and try 'cause dear, together we can
