Today Was The Day

Your silky white strands always neatly combed

Tied together by a black rubber band

Today, today was different

Your white silky strands stood out of place

Each one loose, spiraling onto your face

I demanded those strands to go back to its place

Anger rushed down my veins

Why, why have you let your white silky strands out of place?

Always smiling, showing off your shiny pearls

Today, today was different

Your bold red lips did not share a smile

They quiver as you sob in pain

Tears rushed down your wrinkled cheeks

He is gone and you wish to go along with him

Anger rushed down my veins

I try and try but tears did not run my high bone cheeks

Today, today is different

Today, today I understood

My brown wavy strands out of place

Tears rushing down my high bone cheeks

Foolish and selfish – I was to you

I understand you now

High in the sky she now flies

Watching me go by
