He runs around town with a smile on his face

And swears to everyone around he could make it big

If he could only get out of this place

When the sun goes down

He's roaming around

In dreams of things he can almost taste

But the day comes too soon

And at the end of it all he just can't hold on

There's no place left to go

When it's all over

You fell down in the dirt

You can't recover

The glisten in your eyes has gone away

But you can't let go

With no place left to go

Sometimes I'm fine and just living freely

Caught up in some second rate feeling

And you figure dreams are all said and done

You can chase stars later, but now you've got to go

But then I walked into a stranger's door

And saw my dreams upon their floor

I fought and fought to get back in

But they just turned me home again

There's no place left to go

When it's all over

You fell down in the dirt

You can't recover

That glisten in your eyes has gone away

But you can't let go

With no place left to go

It's funny how the gold turns to ash

You waste your time so you can never go back

A revelation strikes your mind

A glance over a shoulder sends me in rewind

And we Fight

And we Run

And we Hide it all away

And we Call

And we Push

And we Ask if we can stay

And we Cheat

And we Lie

Just to See another day

But then we Crash

And we Fall

And are Forced to compromise

And a Dream

And a Promise

Are all Burned down alive

And there's no place left to go

When it's all over

I reached for a light

But I touched the fire

I packed my bags to go away

I know I just gotta let go

But there's no place left to go
