Time Stops For No One

The old man stood in front of the mirror.

The reflection whispered,

“Oh, how long it’s been.”

He was perplexed; it seems

as if over night he aged 50 years.

He wondered where the years had gone.

He looks deep into his heavenly eyes,

they harbor anguish, but also bliss.

He digs deeper, looking for precious moments,

times that took his breath away.

Then, finally, it all comes

rushing back. It surges through

his body. His thoughts, his

memories, his ideas, freed!

After being trapped they

flow out like a raging river roaring

over the waterfall.

His lips widen into a huge smile.

Life had returned to him.

Time kept going but he finally caught up.
