The Time Came

The Time Came

The time came

when we no longer smiled…The way we did at Table 26…

That day the rain drenched us…

We embraced

against a tree

and melted a kiss…

Never returned…

No longer did we     dance as one

as we did at Bice…

No longer did we turn in bed with desire…

We came together with passion ablaze

a time ago.

But our souls never kissed and the passion departed:

   Slowly

   Silently

   Secretly

Leaving us empty:

   Unknowingly

   Untrustingly

It came time for leaving…

The sea we knew the summer of 21 said of us:

      "They loved one

        Sunday…

        The tide came in,

        The tide went

         out”…
