A tiger saw the ruins in me.

Forget the masks,

We will paint our faces like warriors tonight.

I've collected the berries in the forest,

The reds and the blues and blacks,

I've come to sing you songs of my love,

But you have not listened to me, not since day one.

I've torn my body limb from limb for you,

Creature of the night, I've destroyed these statues,

And these homes so you could see,

The revelation of my love for you in the evening.

Forget the masks, I've been hidden in the forest,

Painting myself like the leaves,

Running from you, so I could remind myself how to be me,

Because you do not see this love,

You tamper with other lovers and kill them one by one.

You are this jungle cat thriving on the blood that sinks into your veins,

Pretty reminders of how dangerous you are,

I cannot stay.

But I will burn down this land,

Paint my face once again,

Run from you in the decay,

Run from you in these ruins,

The tiger that saw me to my end.

But I love you all the same, I truly do,

No matter where the destruction leads us,

I will come back to you,

If you would have me, in your high walls and dense forests,

I will paint myself a warrior again,

Just so we could pretend, behind this disillusionment.
