Thunder&Thoughts

Last night I tossed and turned, unable to put my thoughts to rest. I watched them scurry 'round my mind like frightened mice. A flash appeared in front of my eyes, soon followed by the roar of rolling thunder. Heavy rain splashed against the roof as more lightening played across my eyes. The thunder growled in my ears, quieting my frantic mind. As the rain changed to a soft pattering my eyelids slowly closed. I drifted off to sleep, chasing the soft purr of distant thunder.
