My generation is always in the newsPeople look down on usWondering why we keep up so much fussWhy do we do the things that we doBut have you ever stop to ask yourselfAnd thinkWe were once youYou might not have been bold enough to do things in the openBut you were once in our shoesWe are the reflection of youWe just didn't come up with this stuffWe got it from the pastWe had to look up to somebodyObviously it wasn't youSo we turned to tv and music to help us through No one was there to guide usBecause nobody caredAnd you still don't You sit around and complain about usYou say something needs to be doneBut when did you put in some work to help this generation and put together the crumpsI know we need help but we can't do it on our ownI know in our minds we think that we're grownWe are a child in mind in need of guidanceI can guarantee that is one way to stop the violenceEverything we do is for a reasonWe say and do things because that's all we knowAnd it starts at homeIf you would have taught me to be my own personI would have never looked up to the girls that strip or the boys that gang bangWe are surrounded by a world that's filled with nonsense And all we need to get through is loving, caring parentsRihanna made it cool to be promisicuos, Nicki Minaj made it cool to be a Barbie, Lil Wayne made it cool to sag your pants, Chris Brown made it cool to beat on womenBut who Is there to make it cool to stay in schoolWho is there to make it cool to save your virginityWho is there to make it cool to stay off the streetsNobody is thereBut when one of us is six feet deepThat's when you start to careYou should have done something before it got thereEverything that happen to usYou just sweep it under the rug like dustDo you really look at us like that?Do you have any idea that hurts more than a heart attack?Do who really care?We need someone that's willing toPut their life out on the lineThey say things will get better with timeBut look how much time has passed Look at how many parents have to bury their kids!Just take one look Stop!Stop Living in a fantasy world where things are perfect Open eyesCome to the surface The world around you is realThis is a generation full of misguided kidsWe have no support No one to lean on No one to say Stop and thinkBefore we move on.Who is there? And I ask you again Do you really care?
