Those Soft Streams
Have you ever had those dreams
Where life simply bursts at its seams
And runs away in those soft streams
Helpless it flounders without protection
Aimless it wanders without direction
Desperate it clings fearing rejection
Swindlers sell tonics for its disease
Hawking their balms at its unease
Assuring you with their guarantees
The men of god use their prayers
The greedy men become billionaires
The godless simply go on unawares
The body awakens the mind not gone
Beating backwards against the dawn
Summoning the strength to move on

I really enjoy your rhyme scheme here, Tucker. It groups together the sequences well. The movement really plays a part here too as the path of this disembodied life swims around and causes what people do almost inherently. Your focus on philosophy plays a big role as well as you try to group together the flaws of the existence of a wide array of people just to capture the feeling... like a snapshot as words. The future is a scary thing, and the tides of time move over us like the sea, whether it be welcome or not. Also, your narrative aspect is interesting as you depict the scene with many people in this time of weakness and insecurity, but it tends not to focus on you; possibly this is because I always remember you as having a very anti-weakness mentality... Almost Fascist.. Anyhow, I hope this comment does not sit in vain, how desolate a fate it would be if it were left in this corner of the internet unread...
Have you written anymore since this?
Are you enjoying yourself in college now?
It's been great so far. I'm working about 30 hours at the Vance Dollar General and taking 16 hours worth of classes at Shelton State. My schedule proves to be very stacked. But I find time to fit in a session of Dungeons and Dragons every now and again. I received only credit for English and Government plus a few hours thanks to Mrs. E's class. I also don't have to take more than one math class here at Shelton due to my ACT score. Shelton is clearly not used to having people like me there. Most of the staff looked confused when I spoke about AP classes. Hopefully I knocked off one semester. Did you ever decide on a major? And are you any good at boxing so far? I'd expect you to be, given your history with wrestling and low center of gravity.
