The Thing that Saved my Life

Lost in a world that seemed to have constantly misunderstood me,

I walked.

I walked alone, destroyed, effortlessly losing myself.

Everyday I seemed to have to carry broken pieces of myself.

The day I decided I wanted to put an end to all of this, was the very same day I found you.

I found you in a corner of amongst other old objects that have been stored in the same space where forgotten items had found shelter.

I remember picking you up and pouring my life into your empty pages, comforting me with help of a pen.

This was the day a simple journal saved me

This was the day I realized poetry saved my life.
