They

They

They made me small.

Made me chained.

Made me a bird in a cage.

They made me crumble-

Made me yield.

Made me forfeit a game made to succeed.

They made me feel free-

Safe to be.

They made me believe.

To see the good in every scene.

They showed me the world-

Showed me the good, the bad.

Little did I know,

The bad was watching me.

In truth,

The prosperity was cunning-

Just the game unseen.

Ever Changing but never questioning.

When they left,

It was short and sweet.

Sudden and bleak.

They showed me the world-

That was once full of splendor, wonder-

But now it seemed small and somber.
