These Feelings Shouldn't Exist

I hate seeing the tears

flood her innocent eyes.

Her heart feels as if

she’s been shot by

a thousand bullets and

dumped in a salty sea

to drown.

Each hideous word that easily

flows through his mouth

scars her little mind.

She feels abandoned and hated

in her soul.

Her favorite pillow is

soaking wet.

“Everything is my fault,”

she cries from

her top bunk.

I lay in the dark

silently crying because

I know how she feels.

I feel horrible because

no matter what I do

to make her happy again

it never works.

A young child,

should never feel that way,

EVER!!!!

These feelings shouldn’t

exist.
