There's More to the Mask
Some people might not understand, what a costume means to me,
But my character has come from me, and was made very specially,
She is a wolf, and her name is Kino,
And I had her costume built professionally.
Getting in suit and wearing a mask,
Is so much more than a mundane task,
It means I can be a different part of me,
The part of me I want the world to see,
Its putting on a new face, taking on a new you,
Doing things that you wouldn't normally do,
Watching kids smile when they see the wolf wave,
All the hugs that I get that I wish I could save,
All the looks in their eyes that I wish you could see,
The way they know in their hearts that it just HAS to be,
Real, and that is something you treasure,
To bring a child's imagination to life, you remember forever.
There is more to the mask, than just a costume you don,
It's the way that you wear it, the performance you put on,
But it's not really acting, if your being yourself,
Another half of yourself, usually up on the shelf,
Until you take it down, and embrace it, maybe just for a day,
But you gain so many smiles and make so many memories that way.
When life is getting tough, and I find a need a break,
I'll suit up and take a walk, for an hour, give or take,
To see the world through different eyes for a while,
And make more people than just myself crack a smile.
So when im feeling down, or overwhelmed in actuallity,
I put myself into my own personal reality,
Even though it seems to some a pretty silly task,
To me there is so much more to the mask.
