There Was No One There

A house of sorrow and empty rooms
So much loss, pain blooms
And there was no one there,

From our sacrifice, they say, we will get rewards
Drunken screams rattle the floorboards
And there was no one there,

Anger forever the love displace
A hard smack across the face
And there was no one there,

A life filled with fears
A pillow to muffle the tears
And there was no one there,

A head pushed down in to water
But somehow the body knows better
And there was no one there,

Darkness envelopes all
Falling, falling, fall
And there was no one there,

Like molasses the darkness covers the body and mind
Making the light impossible to find
And there was no one there,

An idea springs
Filling my head with happy things
I am here,
I have always been there

And I left and never looked back.
