Their Faith

John the Baptist wasn’t the only Christian who was beheaded

To this day they are still under guillotine

Their heads like trophies mounted on the wall

As they become martyrs in a hall of fame

Counting down in prayer as time ticks away

Their last word is always Jesus

As they breathe one last time, and close their eyes.

The blood of my brothers and sisters is spilled every month

And their safe heaven snatched from their hands

But their faith

Their faith can never be stripped away.

Their faith will keep them strong when they are imprisoned for months

Their faith will keep them walking when the soles of their feet are cut off and they are forced to tread on salt

Their faith will keep them hopeful when their loved ones are murdered before their very own eyes

Their faith will keep them united when the whole world around them is burning in the fires of hell

Their faith will never abandon them when they are stuck between the wall and the cold barrel of a gun.

Their faith might get them killed but they still keep believing.
