Thank you teachers

if the students don't mind opening the door
then the door can open the students' minds;
A feeling of academia seeps through the floor
You never know just what you might find

There’s something special about a classroom.

The environment of learning
almost more common than plain curiosity
Just ask Plato and Aristotle
To study in solitude seems like insanity

There’s something special about a classroom.

Students bring the world into focus
but through the teacher’s borrowed lens--
without the pressure of doubt to choke us
we can break down preconceptions and then make amends

There's something special about a classroom.

in a time when life is as fragile as glass
cold to the touch, brittle but frail
reflecting the effort to stand up and ask
we need our students to feel safe to fail

There’s something special about letting a class roam.
