Technology

When was the last time you didn’t use your gps
The last time you heard music, live and not from YouTube?
The last time you met a date in person?

Our lives are controlled by 1s and 0s
Programming our souls to be reliant on plastic shells
If the WiFi signals were to collapse would our society too

We are run by microchips
They know us better than we do
What movies we like
Where we shop
What our kids are allergic to

Trapped
Tied down to flashing rectangles
When you walk down the street do you ever look up
Or just in your palm

I can’t remember when Apple was synonymous to fruit
When clouds floated in the sky

Every second of our day we must like, subscribe, share
Not to each other
Not for each other
But for the technology that has stolen our lives

We once feared big brother
Now we give him to our kids for Christmas

This poem is about:
Our world
