What is the meaning of being a teacher?

Does it mean to tell people the facts or teach them what someone else says you should? 

Teach, meaning to relay to someone else how to do something or what something means.

What good does it do to teach people something if they can't use it?

Everyone is a teacher in a way, wether they teach people about the bad or the good. You are always teaching. Teaching the truth. Teaching lies. Teaching right. Teaching wrong. Everyone is a teacher, even when they don't know it.
