Tasteless beer and empty eyes
I recall looking in her eyes
deep green wells avoiding mines
I sipped from my cold tasteless cup;
she's started wearing makeup and hiding freckles,
maybe I should too, to cover all my lies;
she was a damnation in disguise.
And now I stare down as I talk,
it's a shock, I feel numb as I sleepwalk;
the way he makes her laugh
copper hair behind her ear
but my heart filled with fear.
Shed a tear, now everything's clear
and the atmosphere gets cold
as the beer I was drinking before;
she is the girl I shouldn't have fallen for.
