The Tale Of Pan
The Boy who has lived
For hundred of years
Sneaks silently
Watching my tears
Though I have wept
Those secrets well kept
I put on a false smile
Hoping it would be worth my while
I sing tales of lost love
To my two little pups
As candle light dimly glows
The boy from the window glows
Quietly watches
Drinking every word I spill
I tell tales of Pirate Kings
Sing the song
The Sirens sing
Dance the dance
Of the Fairy Queen
Chant the Chant
Of Chief NeverGreen
I map the stars
So I can go
To the place I’ll never grow
Soon the pups are fast asleep
I wander to the window
Where I must weep
Tomorrow I grow up
Leave the life I love
Follow rules and rhyme
Be proper all the time
Hide the real me
That’s who I am to be
The wind brushes by
As I begin to cry
Snow falling at my feet
The window makes a crush
A hooded figure makes a dash
A shadow goes back in the night
Floating in mid-flight
Though it was unheard
And unseen
Yet it occurred to me
That I was not alone
Pulling the window back open
I quickly returned to my tears
The boy from the window heard
The sorrow sings of a blue bird
A feeling he never felt before
Lead him through my window door
A bright lead him through
What it was I had to knew
Looking for what was lost
Came at such a cost
The boy dashed
The figure fell
There was a bash
And the boy prevailed
In all of the confusion
I thought it was an illusion
I was not sure
It by in a blur
A hit there
A crash here
To much of my surprise
The pups did not raise an eye
They were resting their heads
Asleep in their beds
When the battle was through
There wasn’t one boy but two
By the tip of the toe
He held his foe
The puppeteer regained his strings
The hooded figure sighed in defeat
And without skipping a beat
The first boy tried attaching
Him to his feet
He tried a bar of soap
A little toy boat
Even a doll named lavender green
He fell with a huff
Still trying to be tough
But I knew he sadly sing
When he noticed my stare
He laid quietly there
Wishing to remain unseen
Putting on my smile
We stared for a smile
As the tears on his cheeks gleaned
He quickly stood
Got as close as he could
I felt his breath on my cheek
Then in a circle he creeped
He touched my hair
As if I would not care
His touch was light
Unlike the brutal fight
He acted as if I was a pearl
Had the fool never seen a girl?
His eyes grew bright
As he jumped and took flight
Whisking around the room
Then his face grew dim
As he fell back
Grabbing his dark faced twin
With very little hope
He grabbed the rope
Tieing he to him
When victory came
His efforts were in vain
As he slipped away
I asked what was wrong
He said his shadow was gone
And only he was to blame
Scrambling to my feet
And without skipping a beat
I told the stranger to leave
Ridiculous I yell
As the tears began to swell
He seemed perplex
On what happened next
As I motioned him to go
He looked at me
With uncertainty
And said
This had never happened before
I looked away
As the night grew gray
The boy began to disappear
But before he left
And because I’m not deaf
I heard him mutter a phrase
“Tomorrow you grow up
Leave the life you love
To follow rules and rhyme
To be proper all the time
Hide the real me
That’s who you are to be”
With that he was gone
I resumed to my sad song
