Take a step or two
Seventeen years I had no choice
I would fight for my freedom every night
I screamed at my mom, yet had no voice
Because mothers are always right
Now I'm eighteen, redeeming those fights
About to step out - out into this world
I ask for my mom's hand all right
This day was coming - that's all I've been told
They say that we are the future
Now the future becomes very clueless
But I have both parents at my side
And I begin to question why - at seventeen- I was so heartless
