Response to James Cone's "The Cross and The Lynching Tree"

I have the faith to hang upon Calvary

but would I hang upon the Poplar tree.

If by it I may set my sisters free

From the chains set forth by the enemy.

Would I take up the rope

if by it I may set her free?

Or would I only take up the cross

if it looks like me?
