Superior and Ignorant

How do you expect to teach

If you don’t try to listen

You ask for our opinions

You ask for our thoughts

When we answer passionately,

Our answers are wrong.  Permanently wrong.

You don’t understand us

You assume.  Always assume.

Since when have people’s opinions been wrong?

Since when have teachers become dictators?

You act so superior, as if your life is more important

And here we are, listening to your yammering

Wanting to have some respect, and be treated as equals

You would be surprised on how willing we are to learn

You would be proud of how much knowledge we’ve already acquired

Of course, that would be if you actually knew us at all

If you actually heard our voice,

You would realize

Sometimes students

Are the better teachers
