The sunset

I watched her lose her light,
I stood there as she threw it all away, there was nothing I could do,
As she throws herself off the peak,
shedding the glory that comes with height,
So much power dispersed all over the clouds,
Scavengers battle for what she left behind,
As she descends unto the earth,
Peacefulness and calm she exuded,
The hunger for control,
the desire to touch everything,
she left it all behind,
Here's her moment of solitude,
The life she's always wanted,
Free from a million gazes,
Away from their visions,
No more set as the standard of perfection,
Just another being like you and I,
She fades into the air,
Leaving the skies empty by one star,
A gentleness descends over all,
A calmness and assurance,
That behind where she hides there's a smile,
She's happy where she is,
She chose and she deserved her choice.
