Summer Rains

And then the heavens burst forth,
With the song of a million raindrops,
Drenching the world with hope.
Hope lingers on flower petals,
The earth absorbs it, hungry for more.
Children play in it,
Oblivious to disdainful, hopeless glances
Of those under "shelter".
Raindrops bounce off sleek, modern cars,
The drivers of which disdainfully grumble.
It rains, rains evermore,
The more so, the more believe,
The more grumble.
The rainbow yet comes,
Comes to show the earth its rays,
And show that the rain has a purpose,
A purpose to expose the dirt and brightness.
