Summer Ode

Oh, Summer, how you softly call,

With skies so bright, yet shadows fall.

Your warmth is sweet, but feels too fast,

I know you’ll end, though you’ve just passed.

The mornings shine with golden light,

Your bright rays overpower the night

The hours stretch, too long, too wide,

Knowing soon you’ll slip and hide.

The sun will shine bright, warmth expands,

But I can’t help but understand

That every laugh and every cheer,

Will fade away, and disappear.

The beach, the sun, the endless skies,

All these things are sweet goodbyes.

For in your glow, there’s something bad,

Knowing that the end is sad.

Oh, Summer, though you’ve just begun,

I feel the sadness in the sun.

For when you’re gone, I’ll miss you so,

And wonder where the moments go.

So come, sweet Summer, shine your light,

But know that I will hold you tight,

So I’ll be in your presence

With your golden mellow entrance

When you arrive

The flowers become more alive

Gasping at your daze

Of your bright beautiful ways

For though you’re here, you’ll soon be gone,

And in your leaving, life goes on.
