The Struggles of Our Lives

Location

I know how a caged animal feels.

Confined to the point of insanity,

Humiliated and hurt beyond repair,

Always living with a false hope of freedom.

I know how a fish out of water feels.

Slowly suffocating,

Trying to force a change to survive,

Trying to get a small taste of normalcy to keep going.

I know how an injured being feels.

Constantly hurting, inside and out.

Forced to put on a brave face,

Always remembering, but trying to erase.

I know not how a free bird feels,

Never a worry or a care.

Doing what they want, when they want,

Just free to soar through the air.

I don't yet know how a free bird feels,

But someday soon I hope I will.
