The Struggle to Enlightenment

Gasping for air as I am being suffocated by the stupidity that surrounds me

I grab hold of a little string of hope that slowly pulls me up from the ocean of imprisonment

As I reach the surface I can feel myself being rejuvenated by the dreams and cries for enlightenment from all those that want a change in today's black society

When my face embraces the freedom of real air a sigh of relief escapes my body

But ignorance is still trying to pull me back into the ocean of imprisonment

Locked in a disputing battling between liberating and negligent I fight to free myself and my people

To show them the revolution we so desperately need I am reaching out to all

Free yourself from the ocean of stupidity and ignorance and let us evolve into Afro Americans..........
