Stranger in my Skin

Their blank eyes pass right over me
Absorbed in their own little lives
I'm invisible to them you see

And looking on with empty eyes
Their thoughts they all direct inside
Except when judgment cuts like knives

We cannot put our fear aside
The fear of judgment we all might make
So conscious of all we keep inside

And so a mask we all will take
Concealing all with easy grin
But now what's real and what is fake?

And with my real self locked deep within
I'm just a stranger in my skin
